article presents an overview of theoretical and empirical concepts shame that exist in science psychological practice. The material includes references to key domestic researches the second half 20th century, psychophysiology social psychology. Biological perspectives on shame, starting with paper Ch. Darwin, as well a phylogenetic response infant are reviewed. Psychoanalytic views most widely covered. Shame is first used title publication 1942 thereafter appears there only 17 times until 1971. Then distinction between guilt emerges. author provides vignette depicting their differences.
